Hailing from the Gothenburg area, Karin Dreijer is a multidisciplinary musician based in Stockholm, SE.
Dreijer’s work explores a colorful spectrum of subject matter including gender politics, parenthood, and the nuances of human relationships.
Karin first assumed a band leader position with their first band, Virginia, however the project yielded no releases of material.
In 1994, Dreijer assembled a posse of Gothenburg musicians to form the punk-rock band Honey is Cool.
After two studio albums, three EPs, and declining commercial success, Honey is Cool disbanded in 1997.
In summer of 1999 Dreijer teamed up with their younger brother, Olof, who was experimenting with electronic music. The duo would go on to release four boundary-pushing studio albums, an opera, and two live releases as The Knife.
During a hiatus from the sibling project, Dreijer unleashed a self titled album as Fever Ray in 2009. Two subsequent albums under the alias arose after the duo split in 2014.
